By day, I’m the executive producer at the American Chemical Society, where I produce a weekly YouTube series about chemistry. By night, I wrote Ingredients.

I have an S.B. in Chemistry from MIT, where I TA’d introductory organic chemistry (twice). I’m incredibly honored to have won the F.D. Greene Teaching Award for that work. I’m also a New Media Consortium Emerging Leader and Khan Academy Talent Search Winner.

I co-hosted CNBC’s hit TV series, Make Me a Millionaire Inventor. I created, wrote, and hosted National Geographic’s Ingredients, the YouTube series that inspired this book; and I co-wrote and directed MIT’s YouTube series Science Out Loud. I’ve also had the privilege of writing and voicing more than ten TED-Ed videos.

My videos reveal the secret behind white asparagus, explain why ketchup is so hard to get out of the bottle, and (try to) explore the 4th dimension. I also helped develop a massive open online course on protein drug development and gave a friendly satellite-fixing space robot its TV debut.

My work has appeared in The New York Times, WIREDForbesThe Boston GlobeNational Geographic Magazine, NPR’s The Salt, NBC’s Cosmic LogScienceBusiness Insider, and Gizmodo.

I’m also an avid rock climber, former single-digit-handicap golfer, and recreational cook.
